His career started with research for people in extreme conditions: divers, mountaineers, cosmonauts. Not wellness — resilience in situations where oxygen runs short.

That work produced the principle known today as intermittent hypoxic–hyperoxic training: short phases of reduced and increased oxygen, carefully dosed and monitored throughout.

For ZELLGIPFEL he is the scientific reference point. He shaped the method we follow — sober, measurable and free of grand promises.

    Born and raised in Moscow.

    1974–1980

    Medical studies

    Medical degree with an early focus on breathing, circulation and adaptation to low oxygen.

    1980–1993

    Research for extreme conditions

    Adaptation programmes for divers, high-altitude climbers and cosmonauts — the groundwork for today's interval protocols.

    1994

    Move to Heidelberg

    Living and working in Germany since 1994, bringing hypoxia research into integrative medicine.

    2000–2004

    Consulting in the USA

    From 2000 to 2004 he worked as a consultant in the United States, including on the engineering side of training equipment.

    2005 –

    Teaching, patents, practice

    Several patents and papers on hypoxic–hyperoxic application, lectures and hands-on guidance — today mostly in Mallorca and Germany.
